Block Calls on Iphone. There is no way around the problem: there will always be people you do not want to talk to. Fortunately, Apple’s newest mobile operating system and the iBlacklist application have finally provided a method of circumventing annoying callers. Whether this blockage is just temporary, or more permanent, it depends entirely on you.

Block calls using iBlacklist (iOS 3 and later)
Not everyone has the ability to upgrade to the latest version of iOS, given the hardware limitations of older devices. Fortunately, the application iBlacklist did a fantastic job to block calls and text messages from specific people or unknown numbers if you are willing to risk to jailbreak your iPhone and buy $ 12 more in the App Store from Cydia .
This is not a difficult or time consuming process, but it is an effective way to block unwanted communication. Consult the iBlacklist manual at the top of the application website for a detailed overview of the software and all its features
Step 1: Access the iBlacklist app
To get started, tap the Cydia icon on your phone, search for “iBlacklist” in the search tab, and select the app in the search results. We assume that you have already jailbroken your iPhone and that you have access to the Cydia application.
Step 2: Download and Install the iBlacklist Application
Follow the instructions on the screen to download and purchase iBlacklist. Once the download is complete, click “Close Window” to close Cydia and return to your home screen. You may need to restart your phone before the changes take effect.
Step 3: Block the number
Scroll through your apps to find the iBlacklist icon and open the app. Tap Black Lists in the main menu to access your current blacklists and groups. To add a new number, tap Add new blacklist, and then select Import from address book to block the entire contact list. Step 4: Toggle between blocked forms of communication

Step 5: Define an action for blocked calls
You must now press Action when you consult a contact, to choose the desired action when the unwanted call comes in. You can choose to accept the call, accept and hang up immediately, send the call to voicemail, make a busy signal, or block the call even before your phone rings. When finished, close the contact and the changes will be automatically saved. Keep blocking people the same way until you’re happy with your blacklist.
Important Note – Jailbreak your iPhone voids your warranty and opens your smartphone to a series of stability and security issues. If it bothers you a bit, avoid this route.
Block calls using your phone’s Do Not Disturb mode (iOS 6 and later)
Although iBlacklist is the best option for blocking calls for those who do not have the latest iOS, it may not be the most appealing.
That being said, the Do Not Disturb integrated mode in iOS can accomplish the blocking task to some extent, but it basically works upside down. Instead of receiving incoming calls from everyone except contacts that you block, the tool will block everyone’s incoming calls except the contacts you allow. This is exaggerated, yes, but a good option, if you want to drop the radar for a spell and only receive calls from a number of people is available for older devices compatible with iOS 6 or later.
Step 1: Download and install the latest compatible iOS – If you have not done so already, save your device and upgrade to iOS via iTunes or your Wi-Fi network. To do this, tap the main Settings icon. Home screen of your smartphone, select the General option at the top of the resulting menu and press Software Update on the resulting screen. Then make sure your device is connected to a power source and press the Download and Install button.
Step 2: Open Do Not Disturb settings – Click the Settings icon with gears, tap Do not disturb.
Step 3: Set Utility Specificities – Once open, you can set the mode to turn on automatically during the specified times of the day and select the contacts from which you want to receive calls. Simply choose the Allow calls from and choose favorites option to allow calls from contacts in your favorites list. Alternatively, you can select anyone and everyone (which seems counterintuitive, if you ask us). There is also an option to switch to Repeat Calls, an option that does not cut the same person’s phone calls if they call you more than once within three minutes.
Step 4: Turn on do not disturb mode – Finally, turn on Do Not Disturb mode from the main settings of your iPhone or Control Center to launch the feature. Once activated, a crescent moon icon will appear to the left of the clock at the top of your phone, indicating that the complete blocking feature is fully operational.
Block calls at the operator level
If no call filtering function works properly on your iPhone, there is the nuclear option: blocking at the operator level. The four major networks offer service to their postpaid customers, but not in all cases without restrictions.
If you have an online account with Sprint, blocking a number is as easy as logging into Sprint.com , navigate to the My Preferences tab, then Limits and Permissions, and finally, Blocking Voice. From there, you can select the phone numbers you want to block or block outgoing and / or incoming voice calls for as long as you want.
AT & T offers a Call Protect application that allows subscribers to block individual numbers, but only up to 30 days at a time. It also includes automatic blocking of suspected fraud and spam warnings. The automatic blocking feature of fraud can be modified to pass specific numbers if you find that it ends up blocking the necessary calls.
Verizon also makes a permanent blockage, even if it’s possible. To block a caller, sign in to your account and select Manage Verizon Family Backups and Controls. Then, go to Block Calls and Messages and add numbers. You are limited to five, and they will reset every 90 days – permanent blocking requires Verizon’s $ 5 FamilyBase per month plan.
